Black Mountain is a rock band based out of Vancouver, Canada, comprised of Matt Camirand, Stephen McBean, Jeremy Schmidt, Amber Webber and Joshua Wells. The band is influenced by many past artists, including the likes of Neil Young and Buffalo Springfield, Led Zeppelin, Can, Pink Floyd, the Velvet Underground, and Black Sabbath.

A precursor to Black Mountain was the band Jerk With A Bomb, which primarily featured McBean and Wells. After Webber had joined, and mid-way through a Jerk With A Bomb tour, the band decided to change their name to Black Mountain. This occurred in close proximity to when the band decided to start working with the label Jagjaguwar. They have since become one of Jagjaguwar's best-selling bands, and they are also famous for their live show as well as the famous musicians who claim that they are fans or are influenced by Black Mountain.

McBean also heads another similarly-named band, Pink Mountaintops, Webber and Wells perform together as Lightning Dust, Camarind is the songwriter and prime mover behind Blood Meridian, and Schmidt releases his solo work under the moniker Sinoia Caves.

Black Mountain has released one self-titled album (2005) and an EP titled 'Druganaut' (2004) on the Jagjaguwar label. A split single with Destroyer was released in Fall 2004 on Spirt of Orr. The "Stormy High" single was released in 2006 on Suicide Squeeze records.

They recently were featured on the soundtrack for the movie Spider-Man 3, with their song "Stay Free". Also a vinyl 12-inch record was released in April 2007 named "Surrender Sound Session: Unkle vs. Autolux/Black Mountain" with a remix of the Black Mountain song "No Hits" on the B side
